Here they all are! Off to the post office…

I’m heading out the door to send the direct mail piece out. Very exciting to be able to reach so many people that I think could make great partners with Cara Austin going forward, and a few that will hopefully be eager to review her music.

This will be the first thing that people see when they open the package. I’ll post pictures of the final product all assembled next week.

So we’re getting ready to send out the first Cara Austin CD promo – a package we’re sending to some people who might be interested in her CD and message. I spent a LONG time trying to make sure to find the right people to send the package to, and we have 50 people on the first list that are going to get the mailing.
All the pieces are on my dining room table and we’ll be assembling things this weekend. I thought I would show you some before and after pictures in case you’re interested. The black masks are what we spent a long time cutting out last week, as I mentioned in a previous post.
Have a great weekend everyone!

It’s late! I’m barely making this blog post before the stroke of midnight, which is always my goal. There are many reasons for this, but the one that you’ll care about the most is the I’ve been working all day on getting the first big Cara Austin promotional mailing done. It will be going out very soon. I’ll post some pictures as soon as I find a camera to use (Cara’s borrowed mine for her trip!)

I just spent about three hours (that felt like 12 hours) cutting things out for a Cara Austin mailing that’s coming up. I have blisters! I didn’t realize that this is what having a record label would entail.
Seriously, though, Moe, Jay, Beth and Deirdre – thanks for lending a hand. You guys are awesome.
I’ll post more details on the mailing shortly. And Jay told me today that he has some never-seen footage of a gig that Cara played a few weeks back. We’re going to tackle the technical challenges, and once we have those solved, we’ll have clips of a new song that Cara debuted at that show…coming soon.

I have made my first big mistake as an Internet-focused record label. I’m sure that there will be plenty more, but this is my first.
I started this blog for Cara Austin using a blog tool called “Tumblr.”
If you’re at http://blog.caraaustin.com, you’re using Tumblr right now. Tumblr is AWESOME in the way that it looks, how easy it is to set up, and the way that it lets you create posts. But the problem with Tumblr is that search engines (like Google) aren’t really picking up the posts that I make here and listing them. So if random people search for terms like “Most awesome female rockstar ever” in Google, they’re not finding Cara Austin.
This is a problem, don’t you think?
So I’m going to make a move. It will likely take a month or so to transition off of Tumblr to a different blogging platform, but I’ll let you know when it happens. Stay tuned.
